Who is Calling Who Crazy?
In England the Daily Mail reports that a man and his wife were kicked off a bus by the driver. The man, Goth, who walks his fiancée on a leash, was banned by the bus driver who told him, “No dogs allowed.” The couple wear black and she wears a dog collar with a leash attached which he holds. "I am a pet, I generally act animal like and I lead a really easy life," she said. What was the reaction of the man (owner?) to the driver’s actions? “I have been a Goth most of my life and it's the first time I've come across anything like this. It's crazy." The action by the driver working for a living is being investigated as a crime. The couple, who live on government benefits in “a council house” have been “friends” for years and plan to start a family.
Who Do Your Children Look Up To?
Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger, 28, found dead in New York after a suspected drug overdose. This is a man with a growing career has a first rate movie star, with over five pictures under his belt and a new one about to open, who lives “the good life” in New York’s best and who has a lifetime of achievement ahead of him, yet who has been battling drugs for years. He was found naked on the bed surrounded by pills. Be careful for the success you ask for! Of course, stars like Heath and Britney Spears are the prince and princes of our culture.
What Did History Miss?
One of the most popular presidents of our country, responsible for one of history’s largest economic expansions and the defeat of the Soviet Union, remains Ronald Reagan yet at the Democratic debate, the very mention of his name brought criticism on Obama who then joined in agreeing about how bad the Reagan years were. Even if they believe this, what about the audience that largely likes Reagan? It never pays to beat up on the deceased but especially one so popular.
An Overreaction?
A 75-year-old grandmother of eight was arrested at a Florida McDonald's drive-thru after police said she wouldn't pull her car forward. Jean Merola was waiting for her coffee and fries when a police officer asked her to move her car. Merola refused, saying she was told to wait there by McDonalds employees, it was reported. Wanna bet the coffee and fries arrived before she was handcuffed and the car towed?
Well Thought Out School Policies!
A 14 year old is suspended from school for wearing “Winnie the Pooh” stockings. Another is suspended and the police called for having a plastic knife in her lunch box. Meanwhile, it is reported that nearly 20% (9.5 of 50 million) children are victims of sexual assault or abuse by school employees, 90 percent of the time by male teachers. Many are multiple abusers as schools discharge them and feel the problem is solved. This may sound familiar except that both in numbers and percentages it is a far larger problem than the Church had and that nothing is being done against the administrations of these schools. Also, of course, the schools are largely exempt from law suits.
Who is the Bad Guy?
Boy Scouts of America teaches youth and their leaders to be prepared, to do a good turn daily, and to help other people at all times. In Philadelphia and other locals, they are banned from public use of facilities because of their discrimination, (i.e. religious beliefs).
Oh God!
Dear God, we trust you with this world you created and saved through your Son. To you we offer our lives and our futures. You certainly know that we need your help.
