Fumble, bumble

Although not as close to events as Americans, who have, after a year and one half, come to see that we have an inept, out of step, president, the World is nevertheless arriving at the same conclusions. The man they thought would bring support and comfort has instead brought world recession, record unemployment, and general instability in the Middle East. When the world saw Obama bowing and apologizing to the leaders of other countries, they knew they were looking at the weakest leader of the free world they had ever encountered. Our closest long-term ally, England, is hinting that we are witnessing the end of the "special relationship" with America. China, North Korea, and Iran are defiantly mocking the President.
Conservative pundits started immediately after the election observing that, with Barack Obama, we have anointed ourselves with another Jimmy Carter and he may, in fact, be an even worse president than the fumbling, bumbling Carter. Obama's address last week made a believer out of me. It was so tepid and bloodless as to be reminiscent of the infamous Carter "malaise" speech.

Lie dispenser

Obama and his Chicago thugs dispense lies to the American people as a hippie doctor dispenses medical pot. Obama has declared a moratorium on oil drilling, ignoring the fact that, according to a recent study, such a move will eliminate 40,000 jobs and devastate the Gulf States' economy. He rationalized his move stating that seven respected petroleum engineers who reviewed the study recommended the moratorium. The problem is that this is just another Obama lie. In fact, the lie was so obtrusive that the seven engineers who reviewed the document felt a need to speak out publicly. They said the report they reviewed did not contain the recommendation for a moratorium. That the recommendation had been inserted after their review. Their announcement said, "The Secretary should be free to recommend whatever he thinks is correct, but he should not be free to use our names to justify his political decisions." One of the experts, Benton Baugh, president of Radoil, told the Wall Street Journal, that if the report that they reviewed had recommended we halt drilling, "we'd have said 'that's craziness.'"
The deceit and duplicity is appalling. Obama said he was on the oil spill "from day one" - a lie. He said he had done everything possible - a lie. Right after the spill, the Dutch government, experienced in such matters, offered to help us clean up the oil spewing from the oil rig - Obama turned them down cold. Norwegian and Dutch firms offered to help us too, but Obama said no.

Lie if necessary

The hapless Barack Hussein Obama, a clueless liberal community activist, suddenly in charge of the world's most powerful country - well, at least until he started his campaign of draining the blood out of our nation with his apologetic globe-hopping speeches - has devastated the country in only a year and a half. Our economy is in the gutter, our debt is beyond our ability to repay it, the quality of our schools is sinking lower every year relative to other countries, our enemies are emboldened because of our passivity, and now we have this offshore oil leak that the Obama regime is too incompetent to handle. Like any good community activist and Socialist whose way of thinking is that it is ok to lie as long as the lie promotes an ultimate goal that is good, Obama lies his way out of bad situations. He said in his pathetic address on the subject that the offshore oil leak happened because, "We are running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water." No, we are not. We are running out of oil deposits in shallow water because the environmentalists have paid the Democrat politicians to block such drilling.

Fight the good fight

Did circumstances ever force you to enter a physical fight that you knew you were destined to lose? Where you had to fight the good fight in spite of certain defeat? One can feel that way regarding the state of our country. The Obama regime has trashed almost every aspect of our country. We are circling the drain and helpless to turn it around. Until the next election, one can only write blogs and letters to editors, and attempt to convince friends even though the regime has the power to do as it wishes regardless of public disapproval, the liberal press has long since given up any semblance of critical journalism, and the schools are in full leftist indoctrination mode. The regime is driving the country into the gutter, destroying the economy, eliminating free trade, killing business innovation, and forcing us into a European type of Socialism. Then it doubles down on dumb and tried to fix the economy and boost employment by burdening the economy with more taxes and freedom-stealing laws. One must keep asking that more people merely look at history; see the positive results of lowering taxes, which has always brought greater prosperity and increased revenue to federal and state governments simply because more people are working and earning money. The dilemma is that the liberal mindset is so locked into ideology it cannot resist the automatic desire to "tax the rich," even though overtaxing the rich drives the rich to other states or other countries, which reduces, not increases, revenue to the government. All one can do is stubbornly re-enter the fray and get one's nose bloodied and cheek bruised again.

Bleed the patient

The federal debt has ballooned to about $12 trillion, and the Congressional Budget Office expects it to hit $20 trillion by 2020. Social Security, Medicare, and all the other entitlement promises push the debt to $100 trillion. By all but the far left and the ethnically driven followers, the country recognizes that Obamanomics is a disaster. The greedy government now gorges itself on more than half of our annual GDP and, in the process, controls more of our lives than ever. So what does the Obama regime do to head off our plummet toward calamity? It raises taxes, handicaps business with rules and restrictions, and increases the size of the government with more civil servants planting their noses in the taxpayer-funded feeding trough. It reminds one of nothing so much as the medieval practice of bleeding the patient to make him well by expelling the evil spirits. When the patient did not recover, they bled him more and, when he died, they said that the evil spirits killed him. The practice of spending, borrowing and then taxing in an attempt to recover the economy and spur job growth is a fitting analogy.

Coincidence?

With Iran ignoring UN sanctions and pushing ahead with nuclear weapon development and terrorist regimes becoming bolder in provoking Israel into another war, the Middle East is teetering on the edge of a catastrophe that could engulf the entire region. The Israeli/Palestinian blockade controversy is just the latest indication. Why this latest series of events? We have had three attempted terrorist attacks on U.S. soil since Obama took office (Ft. Hood, Detroit airplane and Times Square), while we had none in the seven years of George W. Bush after September 11. Coincidence? No, not a coincidence. Terrorists and America-hating regimes such as Iran and North Korea recognize that we have a weak, passive President who may actually share their views in many cases and has failed to support Israel which is our only country in the that part of the world.

Offensive administration

That anti-Semitism is alive and thriving in the free world is even more disturbing since it lives in the major media. After my Blog on this point, I saw a video of venerated liberal reporter and recognizable gargoyle at the news briefings, Helen Thomas, pronouncing that the Jews should get out of the Middle East and go back to Poland and Germany. Six million Jews died at the hands of people who think like Thomas.
Our president has openly showed his disregard of Israel, our most important Middle East ally. He has insulted their president and repeatedly offended representatives of that country. For example, making Israel's elected Prime Minister wait for hours unattended in a White House meeting room.

Anti-Semitism is alive

World opinion forced Israel, for the nth time, to cede land to the Palestinians, purportedly to bring peace in the Middle East. Israel evacuated the Gaza strip so that no Israelis now live there - one more failed land for peace deal. The terrorist organization, Hamas has not only has refused to recognize Israel's sovereignty but also has sworn to destroy the country, immediately took control of the region. Not satisfied that Israel had uprooted every Israeli for Gaza, the Islamic terrorist group, predictably, began firing missiles into Israel - more than 7000 so far - targeting civilians, and attempting to terrorize and kill as many men, women, and children as possible. Israel responded with a naval blockade to stop ships from bringing weapons and bombs through. It is hard to see this as anything other than self-defense, however, the world and even our current regime in power are castigating Israel for its recent action to stop ships attempting to run the blockade. Our national media, New York Times, Washington Post, and the rest of the elitist liberal organizations have joined the world's totalitarians in condemning Israel. One can wade through all the journalist jargon, tirades, and leftist propaganda, but it still reeks of anti-Semitism.

Anemic and ineffectual

Obama's plan to send 1200 troops to our southern border is an anemic, ineffectual symbolic act from an anemic, ineffectual, symbolic president. It is too late and far too little an effort to tackle one of most threatening problems. Senator McCain asked for several times this number just to help patrol part of the Arizona border and the Democrat congress rejected the request out of hand. Obama's regime denigrated the Arizona law that merely attempts to enforce the existing federal illegal immigration law, while admitting their failure to have read the law. At least the Arizona law has pressured our inadequate president to do something, anything, into taking some kind of action other than merely the liberal way and bad-mouth Arizona, Obama is sending a token contingent of troops.

Recommendations for the unengaged

A primary election is next week and the area newspapers are exercising their tradition of recommending to readers how they should vote on the ballot measures and nominees. Newspapers always have and probably always will provide this so-called service. It is really not a service but rather an opportunity for an editorial board to express its own bias and sway the voting in that direction. To suggest that said recommendations are an unbiased attempt to evaluate the measures and suggest what is best for the public is an impossible strain on credibility. The worst of it, however, is that such recommendations contribute to the laziness of a large segment of the unengaged, indifferent public that will swallow the suggestions whole rather than do the necessary research.
