The most liberal administration in history and predominately anti-private property, anti free market, anti-business, anti-free enterprise, left-wing media are having their way. We are witnessing a historic period for America: The death of the free enterprise system. A writer opined that the stimulation package created the American welfare state. We are fast approaching a situation where half of all Americans pay no taxes, where the government is bleeding dry the hardest working and most productive and supporting the non-productive as dependents. This seems Obama's goal, because once that happens, the dependent group will keep the Obama types in power into perpetuity. Les Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, wrote in CFR's Foreign Affairs magazine, "The United States is declining as a nation and a world power with mostly sighs and shrugs from the public to mark this seismic event," and "Astonishingly, some people do not appear to realize that the situation is all that serious." One can already see the deterioration of the once foremost American world prestige. China is saving, investing, and growing at 8 percent. America, awash in debt, has a shrinking economy, a huge trade deficit, a gutted industrial base, an unemployment rate surging toward 10 percent and a money supply that has swollen to double its size in a year. Someone said, "The 20th century may have been the American Century. The 21st shows another pattern."
