Astounding ignorance

The question was, “Are you getting you money’s worth for the taxes you pay.” The most worrisome response was from a teacher – a person in a position to influence young people for years to come. She said, now that the Democrats are in control, she was most definitely getting her money’s worth. She was relieved that tax money is now going to things that will improve our country, and was indignant that the government has been taking money from the working class and yet “ignoring them.” This kind of ignorance coming from a teacher is breathtaking – ignorance of the various pork projects our tax money is going for in the almost trillion-dollar so-called stimulus package. Or the frivolous payoffs to special interests and bridges to nowhere. Then, there is the unbelievable 3.6 trillion dollar budget within which independent analysts found over 7000 earmarks – not especially taxpayer-friendly money that has anything to do with helping the country. Regarding the ridiculous claim of the poor working man paying for everything and getting nothing in return, a full 40% of the working public pays zero taxes while garnering the majority of the entitlements, welfare, food stamps, unemployment compensation, and free emergency medical care. There are many wonderful, dedicated teachers in the government school system but far too many lifetime tenured incompetents. Too many younger teachers, having gone through an entire public education and college experience of liberal indoctrination, have no inclination to question or think outside the liberal, America-blaming template. Our public school system and colleges are replete with anti-American professors on a mission, who are creating a society of dependent, class envious, unquestioning sheep, and Obama is the chief herder.
