Remember when Obama said there were no earmarks in his gargantuan spending bill? The D.C. Examiner published a small sample of the thousands of earmarks in the enormous bill as follows:
“There is $1.8 million to manage swine manure in Iowa, $190,000 for a “Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Wyoming, $2.2 million to study grape genetics in New York, $175,000 for “facade improvements” on a dilapidated theater in Pennsylvania, $162,000 for cricket control in Utah, and a total of $41.5 million for the presidential libraries of three former Democratic presidents: FDR, JFK and Lyndon Johnson.” Analysts found there are over 7000 more earmarks in the bill. Obama has been in office for a mere month, but one has to wonder how long it will take for the blissful honeymoon will end – how long before the love-sick voters who swallowed the “change” rhetoric will awaken to the duplicity of our leader. Obama’s statement makes one wonder why politicians say things that a cursory investigation can prove false. Remember Bill Clinton’s prevarications and Al Gore’s silly claims? I can only assume they know that most of the public will not care, will not know any better, or will not bother to check the validity. In any case, Obama is unconcerned about the doubters. He is concentrating his efforts upon those non-taxpaying, uninformed, unquestioning, oblivious members of the public that will guarantee his reelection.
