Ironic isn’t it? Obama plans to raise income taxes – at least for the 60% who actually pay taxes. For the other 40%, he will send a welfare check according to the paradoxically named Earned Income Tax Credit.
VP Joe Biden said it is patriotic to pay taxes. Four of Obama’s cabinet nominees – so far - have not been able to pass muster because they cheated on their taxes. For each new nominee, the vetting committee does a quick check to uncover any murder convictions and then looks at the tax records. It appears Obama may never find enough honest Democrat politicians to fill his cabinet. The first tax cheat, Commerce Secretary nominee, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, had to withdraw. Then, Treasury secretary nominee, Timothy Geithner, failed to pass the tax fraud test, but the committee confirmed him anyway, because he said he was sorry, and it was just an honest mistake to cheat on his taxes for three years. Mind you, he is now in charge of the IRS. Then Obama picked Tom Daschle for Health Secretary and today, in that funereal Daschle way, he announced his withdrawal for failure to pay $128,000 taxes. The Obama press secretary’s pithy response and one I must remember if I am ever dinged by the IRS: "Nobody's perfect."
Nancy Killefer has withdrawn her candidacy for Chief Performance Officer – a new office that I am sure is vital - because, you guessed it, she cheated on her taxes.
The pathetic truth: these bureaucrats did not withdraw to do the honorable thing and save the president embarrassment, blah, blah, blah. They know the public would forget about it in ten days anyway, and the corrupt press would shield rather than investigate them. They withdrew because they want to avoid risking anyone else digging up more dirt from their backgrounds.
