Anyone with a smattering of historical grounding knows that the huge government spending program that Obama is pushing, another New Deal, is not going to fix our economy.
Big government programs that spend money borrowed against our children’s future will provide little in the way of an immediate stimulus. In fact, many DemPols know perfectly well that no government program has ever fixed the economy, and that no number of make-work jobs will solve long-term unemployment and will only prolong high unemployment ala the great depression. Public works projects employ some but hinder natural recovery by taking capital and investment away from private industry – away from incentive and entrepreneurship. Democrats still tell the big lie that FDR’s New Deal fixed the depression. In 1938, unemployment was still at the 1931 level of 17.4 % and the Dow was at 121 - less than half of its 1929 high. The point is the DemPols do not, repeat do not, care as long as they come out smelling good with the inattentive public, with the socialists, with their cheerleading press, and the enviro-geeks, whose chief goal is to cripple the U.S economy anyway. The enviros believe extreme measures, including destruction of the free market system, are needed in order to stop global warming – a misconception since there has been no climate warming in the last nine years except in Al Gore’s obsessed brain.
