Friday, I read an Associated Press report that our sky was about to fall because we were entering a period of deflation.
Saturday an A.P. article warned us of economic collapse because of inflation. This is one of those bad news, good news situations. The bad news is that our economy is in trouble, and our corrupt press, after incorrectly reporting our economy was in trouble during the previous eight years is finally right. The good news is that we cannot have deflation and inflation simultaneously. The state of our economy has never been as bad as the media portrays it in the hack writers’ and talking heads’ efforts to refuse any success of President Bush’s term in office. The press’s critique ran the gamut of adjectives from troubled to critical. It is hard to gauge the damage that the irresponsible media does to our country. The media and Democrats recently demonstrated how they negatively affect our economy by the way they exaggerated our financial woes during the Christmas season. Hearing news commentators repeatedly report that Christmas sales were going to be down during the holidays, many shoppers stayed away and seriously damaged small businesses that make their year during the holidays.
