Would it really be a good thing if every single person voted?
Is it a good thing to have a voting public who have no understanding of national and international events except the few sound bites offered up by Entertainment Tonight or the evening news, especially since these media people like Katie Couric are so clearly biased to the left? All of our famous news anchors, men such as Cronkite, Sevareid, Brokaw, Rather, and Jennings ultimately showed themselves to be politically liberal. This week a friend said he was so angry by the financial and Wall Street mess, he put an Obama bumper sticker on is car. On the remote chance my friend reads this, I am certainly not saying he is stupid; I am saying he is too ignorant of the facts to cast such an important vote. The perverse implication here is, “I am so angry with the people who caused this problem, I am going to vote for them again.” Put aside for a moment the fact that the Democrats have controlled Congress the last two years, and the President cannot single-handedly bring down the market. A scintilla of investigative effort easily indicates the problem started with the home mortgage meltdown and the cause can be traced directly back to congressional Democrats such as Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. They forced banks to make bad loans by the millions to provide “affordable housing” to high risk minorities who would not otherwise qualify; then they blocked 14 different efforts over the years by George Bush, John McCain, Jon Kyl, and John Boehner to investigate the problem of so many mortgage failures.
Howard Stern, with more nerve than a broken tooth, surveyed New Yorkers, man-on-the –street style, and asked those who planned to vote for Obama to name the specific reason and giving them three choices, all McCain points such as right to life, finishing the job in Iraq, and lowering taxes. Each responder gave his favorite, some said all three. Anyone ever suggest a short poll test before allowing anyone to cast a ballot?
