Thank you, thank you, thank you

USA Today conducted one of their polls of 1000 Americans and found some dismaying results.

The poll focused upon the country’s financial situation that is monopolizing the news. One-third of those surveyed believe that we are now in a depression. More than half believe we are in a recession. Neither of which is true since, in spite of the current financial issues, the economy is still growing, the dollar has strengthened over mid-summer value, and unemployment is still not excessive. A percentage of responders believe that if their home values drop below the mortgage amount, the bank will foreclose on their home. I’m unsure of the percentage, but the fact that some homeowners believe this is disturbing. Thank you media for throwing the vulnerable, inattentive, education-challenged public into panic and convincing them to believe such things with your steady stream of propaganda. Thank you Democrat politicians for placing your greedy desire to blame the opposition and gain power above the country’s wellbeing. Thank you government education system and teachers for your abysmal failure to teach young people rudimentary economics. It is axiomatic that the more Americans who believe in this sort of bleak view of our economy, the more the fear becomes self-fulfilling.
Final note: to those 335 out of 1000 people who believe we are in a depression, please read a book, rent the movie Grapes of Wrath, and never again vote in an election.
